The drum membrane, or tympanic membrane, an irregularly rounded, concave membrane stretched out at the inner extremity of the osseous auditory meatus, and placed obliquely to its longitudinal axis, so that the plane of the membrane forms an obtuse angle with the superior wall of the meatus, and an acute angle with the inferior. It is attached periplurally to the tympanic ring.
