An American novelist; born in Chillicothe, O., April 26, 1828. She is the author, under the name of "Martha Farquharson", of a number of novels, including "Elsie Dinsmore" (1868); "Wanted-A Pedigree" (1872); and "The Thorn in the Nest" (1886). She has written in all over twenty "Elsie Books", as well as "The Mildred Books", etc.
