A plant genus of the LAMIACEAE family. It is known as a traditional medicinal for sore throat.

Hoarhound, the leaves and tops of Marrubium vulgare, an herb, native of Europe and Asia; employed as an expectorant and diaphoretic, chiefly in domestic medicine in the form of candy; dose indefinite.

Horehound; expectorant and laxative.

Leonurus cardiaca-m. Album, Marrubium-m. Apulum, Marrubium -m. Germanicum, Marrubium- m. Nigrum, Ballota foetida-m. Vulgare, Marrubium.

Same as Horehound.

Syn.: herba marrubii (2d def.). A genus of labiate plant.

Of the U. S. Ph., the leaves and flowering tops of M. vulgare.
