An eminent Christian author of the fourth century, A. D. A pupil of the rhetorician Arnobius, he became a teacher of rhetoric in Nicomedia, and afterwards tutor to Crispus, son of Constantine the Great. His principal work, "The Divine Institutes", a production of a polemical character, earned for him the title of the "Christian Cicero".
