Syn.: eminentia cinerea, corpus cinereum. A thin layer of gray matter situated between the corpus callosum and the optic chiasm, connected with the tuber cinereum superiorly and with the anterior perforated spaces laterally. It forms a part of the inferior boundary of the third ventricle.
