An Austrian novelist; born at Vienna, Sept. 7, 1769; died there, July 9, 1843. She was a very prolific writer. Among her stories are: "Agathocles" (3 vols., 1808); "Woman's Worth" (4 vols., 1808); "The Siege of Vienna" (3 vols., 1824); "The Castle among the Mountains"; "Black Fritz".
