A French dramatist; born at Constantinople, Sept. 13, 1819. He has written, either in French or in Spanish, "Egill the Demon" (1847), a lyric drama; "The Last Troubadour"; "The Daughter of Voltaire" (1859); "In the Kneading Trough" (1866); besides vaudevilles, librettos of operas, verse, romances, and critical articles. He himself undertook the publication of his "Works: French and Spanish" (1863).
