An English miscellaneous writer; born in Birmingham, Sept. 12, 1823. He was a prominent educator and publicist in his native city. Among his works are: "Religious Skepticism and Infidelity" (1850); "English Democracy" (1855); "Poems of the Fields and Town" (1859); and "Heroes and Martyrs, and Other Poems" (1890).
