pseudonym of Louis Dechez. A French-Belgian patriotic songwriter; born in Lyons, 1808; killed in the campaign of Lierre, Oct. 19, 1830. His fame rests upon that most renowned of Belgian patriotic songs, "Brabanconne", which won its way rapidly to official recognition as the national hymn; and his collected "Poems" give evidence of a genuine inspiration.
