-
An operation, formerly practised, which consisted in passing a ring through the prepuce, after having drawn it over the glans; - in order to prevent coition. The ancients employed infibulation with their gladiators to preserve all their strength by depriving them of venery. In the women, to preserve their chastity, the ring was passed through the labia majora.
