-
An instrument devised to take the place of the more expensive compressed air spirometers. It consists of a small jar fitted with three tubes through one of which air is admitted and through another water, and through the third the patient breathes. The resistance to expiration is produced by the lifting of the column of water into a vessel on a higher level. [Gr.]
