(1754-1832), Senator, was a captain in the Revolutionary War. He was a Representative in the Connecticut Legislature from 1786 to 1789. He represented Connecticut in the U.S. Congress as a Federalist from 1791 to 1795, and from 1796 to 1810 was a U.S. Senator. From 1810 to 1825 he was commissioner of the Connecticut School Fund. He was a member of the Hartford Convention.
