Conversion of substance to resembling hepatic tissue.

Conversion into a liverlike substance. Applied to the lungs when gorged with effused matters, so that they are no longer pervious to the air- Hepatisatio pulmonum, Caruificatio pulmonum. In such state, they are said to be hepatized.

Change of tissue into a liver-like substance.

That condition (especially of the lung) in which the tissue is consolidated and resembles liver tissue.
