Acacia Zeylonica, Logwood. The part of the tree used in medicine is the wood.Decandria Monogynia. Logwood is almost inodorous; of a sweetish, subastringent taste; and deep red colour. Its virtues are extracted both by water and alcohol. It is astringent and tonic, and is used in the protracted stage of diarrhoea and dysentery.
