Chorionic gonadotrophin secreted by chorionic cells of placenta and excreted in pregnancy urine, resembling but not identical with luteinising hormone. Serum gonadotrophins: follicle-stimulating hormone in blood of pregnant mares, luteinising hormone in that of women.
