A South-American botanist, historian, and biographer; born at Santiago del Estero, Paraguay; died at Rome, 1804. Belonging to the order of Jesuits, he devoted himself to teaching philosophy and theology; after the suppression of his order he removed to Italy, where he occupied himself with botany. He wrote: "History of Buenos Ayres", and "Dissertations", both remaining in MS.; "Life of St. Francis Xavier"; etc.
