An Italian poet and publicist, brother of Michele; born at Cagliari in Sardinia, Feb. 25, 1832. He wrote: "Wishes and Hopes" (1852), a volume of verses, and "Memories and Affections" (1862), both of which were received with great favor; also "Literary Sketches" (1863); a series of essays on "Leopardi and Poerio"; "Dante and Modern Poetry"; the comedies "The Heart and the Age" and "Every-Day Saints"; and "Miguel Cervantes", a literary study (1873).
