A descendant of Fatima. the daughter and only child of Mahomet. A line of caliphs, popularly known as the Fatimite dynasty, was founded in 909 by Abu Mohammed Obeidalla, who gave himself out as grandson of Fatima, and continued till the death of Adhed, the fourteenth Fatimite caliph, in 1171. The members claimed pontifical attributes.
