-
A disease which attacks at the same time a number of individuals, and which is referred to some particular constitutio aeris, or condition of the atmosphere, with which we are utterly ignorant. It differs from endemic, the latter being owing to locality; but it is obvious, that should a particular epidemic consitution of the air- epidemicity, (F.) epidemicite- exist along with a favouring endemic condition, these combined influences may act in the causation of several of those serious and fatal complaints, which at times visit a district, and are never afterwards met with, or at least not until after the lapse of a considerable period.
