from de, and articulus, 'a joint.' Disjointing. A word used to express the part of the operation, in amputation at an articulation, which consists in dividing the ligaments, and separating the articular surfaces. The word has, also, been used for that kind of anatomical preparation, the object of which is to separate the different bones of the skeleton, and especially those of the head.
