Zittmanns Decoction. A most absurd farrago, extolled by Theden in venereal diseases, the formula for which, according to Jourdan, "some blockheads have lately reproduced among us as novelty." It is composed of sarsaparilla, pulvis stypticus, calomel and cinnabar, boiled in water with aniseed, fennel need, and liquorice root. A stronger and a weaker decoction were directed by Zittmann. Formulae for its preparation are contained in Jourdans Pharmacopoeia Universalis; and in Linckes Vollstandiges Recept-Taschenbuch. Leipz., 1841.
