pseudonym of Edward Bradley. An English author; born in Kidderminster in 1827; died in Lenton, Dec. 12, 1889. He graduated at Durham University, and was rector of Denton, Stretton, and finally Lenton from 1883 until his death. He contributed to Punch and other London periodicals, and published the "Adventures of Mr. Verdant Green, an Oxford Freshman" (London, 1855), a humorous picture of college life. His other works include: "Mr. Verdant Green Married and Done For" (1856); "The White Wife", a collection of Scottish legends (1864); "Little Mr. Bouncer and his Friend Verdant Green" (1873-74); and many books of travels.
