(1824-1889), was editor of the Columbus, Ohio, Statesman, in which he published the gorgeous article which gave him the sobriquet of "Sunset" Cox. In 1855 he was Secretary of Legation to Peru, and in 1885-86, Minister to Turkey. He spent twenty years in Congress, beginning in 1857, and was an effective speaker, lecturer and writer.
