This term, which has often been used synonymously with Coition, means, also, the ocular proof, formerly ordered by judicial authority, in the presence of surgeons and matrons, to test the impotence or capabilities of parties; - a most unsatisfactory and indecent exhibition. It was forbidden by the Parliament of Paris in the year 1667.
