An instrument, described by Dr. Sibson, which is used for determining the mobility of the chest. It is a species of spring, which, when applied to the parietes of the chest, measures the modifications of its diameters, and indicates, by the motion of the index hand on a dial, any movement of respiration, to the hundredth of an inch.
