-
An animal substance prepared by the bee, and by some plants, as the Cerox'ylon and Myri'ca cerif'era. Its colour is yellow, and smell like that of honey, but both are lost by bleaching. It is demulcent and emollient; is sometimes given in the form of emulsion, in diarrhoea and dysentery, but is chiefly used in cerates and ointments.
