A morbid state of certain organs, in which the tissue acquires a consistence like that of fleshy or muscular parts. It is sometimes observed in hard parts, the texture becoming softened, as in Osteo-sarcoma. When it occurs in the lungs, they present a texture like that of liver. Such is the condition of the foetal lung.
