Hippocrates employed this word, synonymously with cardialgia. In the time of Galen it was used, by some writers, for certain pulsations of the heart, analogous to palpitations. Sauvages understood by Cardiogmus an aneurism of the heart or great vessels, when still obscure. Also, Angina pectoris.
