A Scotch divine, sermonist, and educational writer; born in Edinburgh, 1718; died 1800. He was noted for the eloquence of his sermons, and also for "Lectures on Rhetoric" (1783), which attained great popularity, "Blair's Rhetoric" being familiar to all students.
