A liquid medicine employed, externally, in the shape of friction: it is prepared by macerating and boiling, in olive oil, narcotic and poisonous plants,- belladonna, mandragora, hyoscyamus, &c.-and afterwards infusing, in the filtered decoction, different aromatic plants. It was employed as an anodyne.
