(about 1790-1836), of Texas, pioneer. Obtaining from the Mexican government the confirmation of a grant to his father of land in Texas, he induced a large number of Americans to emigrate thither. In 1835 he became commander of the Texan Revolutionists and went to Washington to secure recognition from the Government of the United States. He died soon after his return.
