An American writer of prose and verse, and second Bishop of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the diocese of Western New York; born in Mendham, N. J., May 10, 1818; died at Clifton Springs, N. Y., July 20, 1896. Among his many publications are: "Christian Ballads" (1840); "Athanasion and Other Poems" (1842); "The Pascal", a collection of Easter poems (1889); and many valuable contributions to current literature in both English and French.
