A French litterateur; born at Puy de Dome, Nov. 10, 1813; died in London, July 9, 1899. He founded in London, classes in literature, history, geography, and astronomy, which proved very successful; and published both in London and Paris, in connection with this work, several educational books, among them being: "History of France" (1866); "The English Writers of the Nineteenth Century" (1868); "History of England" (1875); and "History of Principal French Writers" (1878).
