The leaves and flowers have been considered laxative. They are bitter and aromatic, and have been given in haematuria, nephritis, &c. The fruit is one of the pleasant and wholesome summer fruits, when ripe. The kernels, Amyg'dalce Per'sicce, as well as the flowers, contain prussic acid. Peach Brandy is distilled from the fruit, and is much used in the United States.
