Simple sulphate of alumina may be made by the direct combination of alumina and sulphuric acid, and contains 30 per cent, of the former, to 70 per cent, of the latter. It is a deliquescent salt; and is an excellent antiseptic and detergent to ulcers. It is chiefly used to preserve dead bodies-a strong solution being injected into the arteries. Gannal's Solution for preserving animal substances is made by dissolving an ounce of acetate of alumina in twenty ounces of water.
