Definitions of Xavier Donald McLeod

  1. An American poet and miscellaneous writer; born in New York, Nov. 17, 1821; killed near Cincinnati, July 20, 1865. An Episcopal clergyman, he became a Roman Catholic in 1852, and later a priest. He wrote: "Pynnshurst"( 1852); "Life of Sir Walter Scott"( 1852); "The Blood-Stone"( 1853); "Lescure"; "Life of Mary Queen of Scots"( 1857).
