Membrane glycoprotein and differentiation antigen expressed on the surface of T-cells. It binds to CD40; (ANTIGENS, CD40) on B-cells, inducing B-cell proliferation. Mutation in this protein causes X-linked hyper-IMMUNOGLOBULIN M syndrome (HYPERGAMMAGLOBULINEMIA).
