Twitching, communicated to the tendons by the involuntary and instantaneous contraction of the muscular fibres. It is more observable at the wrist than elsewhere; and is an evidence of great cerebral irritability, and debility, when it occurs at an advanced period of fever. The muscular agitations or twitchings observed in febrile diseases, especially of children, have been termed Convulsibilitas, Sclerotyrbe febrilis, and Irritabilitas morbosa.
