An inflammation of the skin produced by an almost microscopic mite found in straw. It is characterized by intense itching and the presence of urticarial wheals, sometimes by macules or papules, most of which are surmounted by a characteristic central minute vesicle, which quickly becomes pustular. The eruption appears about 16 hours after exposure and is most abundant on the trunk.
