Solanaceous \Sol`a*na"ceous\, a. (Bot.) Of or pertaining to plants of the natural order Solanace[ae], of which the nightshade (Solanum) is the type. The order includes also the tobacco, ground cherry, tomato, eggplant, red pepper, and many more.
