An Irish poet (1788-1846). His works are: "Julian the Apostate: a Dramatic Poem" (1822); "The Duke of Mercia: an Historical Drama", the volume containing also "The Lamentations of Ireland" (1823); "The Song of Faith, Devout Exercises and Sonnets" (1842); and "Mary Tudor: an Historical Drama", published posthumously (1847). His sonnets Wordsworth declared to be "the most perfect of our age".
