Definitions of SAMUEL
Sort: Oldest first
The name of two canonical books of the Old Testament. Three principal periods are comprised in them, viz. the restoration of the theocracy of which Samuel was the leader; the history of Saul's kingship till his death; and David's reign. In all probability the author was a prophet of the time of Solomon.
