The root, interior bark, leaves, flowers, Sambucus (Ph. U. S.), berries, (Baccae seu Grana Actes,) and seeds, have all been given in moderate doses as resolvents and deobstruents; and in large doses as hydragogues. The berries of Sambucus Canadensis, the Common Elder of America, are made officinal in the Pharmacopoeia of the United States. A distilled water of the flowers, Aqua Sambuci, Elder Water, is officinal in the London and Edinburgh Pharmacopoeias.
