1. The salol test of pancreatic efficiency; salol is decomposed into phenol and salicylic acid by the action of the pancreatic juice, therefore if these substances cannot be found in the urine two hours after the administration of 30 grains of salol, the pancreatic function is presumably in abeyance. 2. Desmoid reaction, iodoform being used instead of methylene blue, and the time when iodine appears in the urine is noted.
