(1590-1662), came to New England from England in 1630. He founded a settlement at Springfield, Mass., in 1636. He was given the government of the settlement in 1640, and managed affairs very successfully. While in England in 1650, he published "The Meritorious Price of Our Redemption," which caused great excitement as being heretical.
