-
An instrument used by Buddhists for the mechanical offering of prayers. The wheel revolves with the wind or is turned by the hand or by water-power, and as the written prayers come round, they are supposed to count as offered by the writer or the owner. Prayers on strips of parchment are fastened to the twigs of bushes and trees, for the same purpose.
