Phalanger \Pha*lan"ger\, n. [Cf. F. phalanger. See Phalanx.]

Any marsupial belonging to Phalangista, Cuscus,
Petaurus, and other genera of the family
Phalangistid[ae]. They are arboreal, and the species of
Petaurus are furnished with lateral parachutes. See Flying
