Medically, nervousness means unusual impressibility of the nervous system. Formerly, it signified strength, force, and vigour. Recently, it has been applied to a hypochondriacal condition verging upon insanity, occasionally occurring in those in whom the brain has been unduly tasked ;-a condition termed by some cerebropathy; by others, brain-fag.
