Syn.: ganglion body, ganglion corpuscle, nerve corpuscle. A cell belonging to the nervous system. In shape nerve cells are globular, pyramidal, fusiform, or stellate, with one or more processes. One of these processes is connected with a nerve fiber and is called the axis-cylinder process. The remaining, protoplasmic, processes either end blindly or form communications with similar processes from other cells.
