An American miscellaneous writer; born in Massachusetts, 1852. One of his most notable works is a variorum edition of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. He is the author of: "Not Angels Quite"; "History of the Turko-Russian War of 1877-78"; "On the Point, a Summer Idyl"; "Flowers from Foreign Gardens". He has translated Tolstoi and others from the Russian.
